Quality education means student-centered learning. It's very important to understand the needs of the community you're part of, to create projects specifically for the students in your local community, We… followed the European model. And decided to to introduce gender equality in our school with an all-girls' team. Which, for Romania, is a... novelty. These kids, the vast majority, come from extremely poor backgrounds, from disadvantaged families with significant challenges. So this is their only chance to improve their situation. It’s satisfying to know that you’ve guided them in a direction where you’re confident they will succeed. I imagine visionary principals and visionary teachers who come forward and say: “I want no one to be left behind; Even the students who struggle the most should be able to handle the basic skills they need to make it in life.” We need to work there... In those areas where the child struggles. not overwhelm them with exercises in the areas they’re already strong in. Because that only makes them refuse progress, even in those areas. Look, this is a spruce tree. It's 70-80 years old. And 25 meters tall. Here is the honey fungus root. Armillaria mellea. A very harmful pest. I used to go to the woods with my dad. Marking trees, cutting them, logging wood… Because I grew up around it, it kind of became second nature to me... and from there, I slowly developed a passion for forestry. Here, in the Bucovina region, one of the main ways people earn a living is by working in the forest. Our local girls often come from families that require them to help their father or brother with forest work… They already have some knowledge. We're trying to help them take that knowledge to the next level. I had other high school option. But I chose to attend Bucovina Forestry School just because I was drawn tot the field. It's... all about nature, About silviculture, the forest... This was the best choice I could have made. I have no regrets. Our school is like a big family. With kids from all kinds of backgrounds.
