File share to SharePoint Online and OneDrive using Migration Manager || SharePoint Migration

Welcome back to the channel guys. In this video, I wanted to show you a quick tutorial on how you can migrate data from your on premises environment and uh primarily the data residing on a Windows server um a file share server and uh just a C drive or other drive partition. uh if you want to move that over to SharePoint or users personal one drive uh Microsoft has a tool called SharePoint migration tool and that's what I'm going to talk about and I'm going to show you how you can move data uh with an example. So right now I'm logged into a VM here. It's just a VM I created. It's a Windows Server 2022. And uh yeah, as you can see, that's what it is. Um I'm going to show you what the current file structure looks like. So if I go to this PC, we have a a volume called uh just B and new volume. That's my C drive. So let's say you have a different volume, a share or something like that. And you want to move uh the data inside that volume. So inside this volume I have created the the parent or the root folder called test share and inside that there are different folders that I have created. Uh each of them are empty. Uh and then there is one called user data. So my plan was to show you how to move the folders to a shareepoint site and the user data folder to a user one drive on Microsoft 365 environment. Okay. So let's get started. What first of all we will need the tool. It's called SharePoint migration tool. Uh you need to log to the admin portal. So I'm going to do that. I'll go to the edge browser. Uh admin.microsoft.com. It will take me to the Microsoft 365 admin center. Okay. Uh we'll click on show all and we will go to SharePoint. And once that's loaded, we will go to the migration option here on the left and then we will choose fileshare and click on get started.
