Hello again and welcome to another episode with Ralph. Hope you're fine, dear lovely ISS candidates. Well, recently you have uh requested a lot and uh you've asked for task one task one IELS writing and especially maps describing maps. Well, as you know, um maps, uh do not appear that much in IELTS task one like uh for example, bar charts or graphs. But, um today we're going to focus on map question. And as you can see, u here's a question. The maps below show a part of a village in 1910 and the same part of the village in 2010. So it's a period of um 100 years and Shulton village in 1910 and Shelton village in 2010. All right. In describing um maps and specifically in task one IELTS writing there are four paragraphs basically there are four. So the first one is introduction then overview paragraph in which we talk about the most striking feature of this graph or map and then we dedicate two body paragraphs and here because there are two maps. So one uh body paragraph is about two uh 1910 and another body paragraph is 2000 and describing the changes. All right. Now let's take a look at the map here in 1910 when uh well as you can see um there are three main roads London road, school road and high street. right? Uh in which the village was bordered by these uh three major roads and um they formed a kind of triangular layout and at at the heart of this village um there uh there there is a large house which is surrounded by trees. All right. And in the south part of uh the large house there is a grosser and also small house and a baker. All right. And there is also post office butcher and school to the west. So uh in describing maps we should be aware of the direction of the places here. Right? So when we talk about uh the location of for example butcher so we say to the west or to the east all right so as you can see it's to the west um and there's also post office all right so that's it we we have to use uh first of all passive sentences in describing maps and also we should use uh words related to describing location of a place Now let's just start writing our first uh paragraph which is introduction. So we just paraphrase the question or um paraphrase the sentence.
