Europa Universalis 5 is a game all about taking a nation and building a massive empire . To win, you're supposed to go out and explore the unknown , raise armies to topple powerful neighbors, seize the new world for profit , and become an unstoppable superpower . But what if we didn't do any of that ? Well, today I've partnered with the fine people at Paradox Interactive , and they have challenged me to sit amongst the greatest superpowers on the planet . The catch, no war, no colonization, just building and playing tall , stacking production chains and trade until they built a market so rich migration flocked from all over . Our buildings boomed, our treasury grew to the literal code limits of the game , and we became the richest nation on the planet . And I thought to myself, what if we took this a step further and didn't start as any regular nation, but a desolate island with no economy, no buildings, and no people to work in them if we had them of the small amount of people that do live there . What if they were mostly illiterate, unable to research new score, all kinds. This is great. Okay, so the year is 1637 . Now, I've been pretty busy. Our aisle of man is looking really, really solid and wellb built out . I've built a metric ton of buildings here base is now 230. The main thing I'm missing is people . Now, I have been slowly growing my development , and that has a bunch of bonuses , including to our migration attraction. However, you can see that we're actually taking a hit to our migration attraction and building cost because we're over our maximum building level . The only way to increase our maximum building level is by increasing our development now . And there's not really much more I can do about this . The terrain in man is absolutely killing me
