Let's react to Mina's video called The Crazy World of Korea's Plastic Surgery Industry. As a double board certified facial plastic surgeon, I hope that my commentary will be helpful here. Hello, my beautiful doves. As some of you may have guessed, I am Asian-American. Surprise. And like many Asian-Americans, I went through a phase where I just about woripped the K-pop industry. For me, this phase took place during sophomore junior year of high school to the point where I would wake up at 4 a.m. before class started just so that I could watch my favorite groups performing on MNET because, you know, the time difference. This was also the first time that I discovered the Korean beauty industry because K-pop and beauty go handinand. Idols are constantly promoting products, doing product placements. Most idols also got plastic surgery. And this was something I was really shocked by at the time because in America, if a pop star got plastic surgery, it was like a major talking point, derogatory. People are really mean about it. So, a lot of stars try to hide the fact that they got procedures. But in Korea, it's very blatant. You can easily find before photos of every single idol, and there's just not a lot of stigma. People actually praise the results when they're good. At the time, I was in awe of these surgical transformations. I truly believed that every idol looked so much better postplastic surgery and as a result I became obsessed with what kind of work I would get done um when I finally got the disposable income to fly to Korea and pay for my new face. Yeah. I mean oftent times I feel like risk isn't something that's discussed enough, right? I released a video not that long ago about the risks and complications of facelift surgery. And uh to my chagrin, there were people who were posting in comments like, "Oh, he's just um you know, he's not telling the truth. He's just fear-mongering. This isn't true. It doesn't exist." To me, that's crazy. I was giving statistics based on the literature. This is not like an opinion of mine. This is just that, you know, invasive surgery has real risk. So, that is just a fact.
