when i first saw vincent's work i did not know what to think i was shocked and i thought wow what are these people he paints are they ghosts or dead bodies or some kind of zombies [Music] and then you start getting into the fact that the actual paintings are done in [Music] blood after this would happen to me or you know i'm feeling like this i'd start painting you know as an outlet people usually do that verbally and they'll go to therapists and talk and release all their their verbal diarrhea that's that's in there their poison but vincent did it through through his blood for lack of a better word i mean it was kind of magical [Music] it was contemplative and it gave something back to me and i experienced some beauty in not only the creation of it but then its existence it was like looking at a piece of my self that would not have been visible had i not engaged in this process [Music] it's like meeting a soul mate vincent part of his work is that he's using subterranean feelings that are going to be expressed in a certain way and he uses it to create beauty and that's what i find moving about his work bottling so many things up for so long desperately trying to find a way to communicate in in however i could translating my internal world into a physical form that was essentially a window to the soul every one of these pieces are a piece of him i don't i don't think he just means that you know in an aesthetic blood work sense but like really the emotion behind it you know there's every time i think he puts blood to paper i think part of him those memories that pain like kind of escapes with it something has affected you so much you're going to express it artistically it's affected you so much that you're going to take your own blood draw it and paint it man it's intense [Music] i think the healing and nurturing qualities of his art comes through the expression of the art itself that is an act of healing
