Is China winning by doing nothing ? Confidence in the United States is plummeting across the world, according to multiple international polls , while perceptions of China are climbing . From Gallup to Pew Research to Australia's Lowy Institute , a common trend is emerging . That is, China's liked, increasingly so, and around the world . Now, that begs a lot of questions . What makes a country trustworthy ? What is China doing right ? What is the US and many other Western countries probably doing wrong ? In China, is China, as some claim, simply winning by default ? Welcome to this special edition of The Point with me, Lu Xin , an opinion show coming to you live from Beijing . I'm pleased to be joined from Rome, Italy, early in the morning by Ivan Cardillo , chairman of the Italy-China Business Development Forum , and here in the studio by Jiang , associate professor of the Academy of International and Regional Communication Studies at Communication University of China, and Renato Penna Lupi, Brazilian scholar and director of the Brazilian Citizens Council in Beijing . The warmest of welcome to all of you . So, let's take a closer look at these findings that I just recently I just mentioned . First, let's take a look at Gallup poll survey for the year 2025 . Now, global approval of China's leadership, which is the red line , I believe, the lower one, rose to 36% for last year , surpassing that of the US, which stood at 31% . Now, that's the the approval for the United States is that a fluctuating line you see on the upper half of the picture . And also, that's the biggest lead China has ever had for again against the United States and that leads . Now, this you're looking is from Brand Finance and that's a survey for the year 2026 . These are the top 10 ranking countries in terms of soft power in the world . And here, China was the only one among the top nations to see its score increase . And the United States, by contrast, while still topping the list
