Open up any PC and it looks like alphabet soup. CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, PSU. A pile of parts that all sound important, but nobody ever told you what they actually do. I'll help you understand them the simplest way possible and that soup will finally make sense in plain English. No tech degree needed. Because a PC isn't one machine, it's a team. Every part is one worker with one job. So, let's meet the team starting with the boss. CPU, the brain. CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. This is the brain of the computer. It's the boss of the whole office. Every time you click, type, or open an app, the CPU is the one making the decision and doing the math. And it does this billions of times every second. So, how does it work? The CPU has cores. A core is basically one worker. A CPU with more cores can handle more jobs at the same time. Four cores means four workers. Eight cores, eight workers. It also has a clock speed measured in gigahertz. That's just how fast each worker does each step. So, more cores and higher speed means a faster brain. But, here's the thing. A brain that thinks fast still needs somewhere to lay out its work. It can't hold everything in its head at once. So, where does all that work go? That's the next worker. RAM, short-term memory. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. This is your computer's short-term memory. The easiest way to picture it is a desk.
