Last year, people in my community asked me about anything and I was giving the wrong advice. I'm a software engineer and I've worked on big production systems at large companies like IBM and Chase. So, in my head, real production means one thing, code. And I incorrectly assumed that no code systems wouldn't really be used in production settings. But if I could start over in 2026, I would do the opposite. I would pick a niche that's actually needed by clients, build workflows that can actually pay, and only learn what I need upfront to ship the results. And I wouldn't be so focused on the tools. So, let me show you the road map that I would use if I were to start over in 2026. When somebody asked, should I learn anything? I kind of kept steering them towards coding. And looking back, I definitely regret that. Not because I think code is bad. I love code. I code every day. But because I was pushing my comfort zone, not helping them solve their problem. And after a lot of reflection, this kind of hit me personally because not just as a developer was I doing this. I also am a teacher. So when somebody is curious and wants to learn a tool or use that tool to solve a problem, the goal should be to understand the tool and what it can do, not push the tools that I want onto them. My job is to enrich them with the path that can get the results. And this means that I may have to pivot what I teach, even pivot my channel, which I have on all of my platforms because the goal isn't to create more coders. The goal is to create more builders who can ship outcomes. Look, the thing is clients don't really care about the implementation. Generally, they don't care about the implementation. I have been with a couple that have, and it's honestly been a nightmare. So if if they do, maybe they're not a good client, but they typically only care about the outcome, not how you do it. And it's on us to make sure that we are doing the best job using the tools that we have to make that happen. So before I tell you exactly my road map, I just want to give you a personal reflection moment with an actual client that I worked with on how wrapping all this up and why I kind of really made this realization.
