The Sony FX 30 feels like a brand new camera to me in 2026 . This has been changed so much through firmware over the last few years since I didn't own one [laughter] that coming back to it in 2026 feels like a whole different animal . When I first had one of these, I had it alongside my FX3 and both suit each other really well . I said at the time that the FX30 I felt represented far better value and had I have done it all over again or knew that the FX30 was coming out , I would have got two of these as opposed to my FX3. Now, the FX3 was a fantastic camera, but shooting in a multi-camera environment , these just represent awesome value for money . You can still get really great image quality, but it's not for everybody . But since owning one and trading my original one back in 2 years ago for a Lumix S9 , I was thinking to myself at the time I traded it in, "What am I doin g? I should have kept it." Only to sort of circle back to this camera 2 years later . And surprisingly, one of the things I've grilled Sony for for years is not being , but that all changed and they've given you a whole range of new features on this camera where I had to actually go through some Grok help or Gemini or whatever AI I used to work out where features were and to kind of cover all the things that have changed on this since I first owned one . The first update that I love is the new big six menu and this brings up all your settings . So, you can change your frame second, your ISO, your shutter speed, your F stop or aperture settings , the your picture profile that you're shooting with , and also the white balance . You can also see that we've got our audio levels on the screen , battery life, and the current codec that we're shooting with . This gives us all the information we could want as a video shooter at the touch of a button . And again, it's the number four that will bring this up . One of the biggest complaints a lot of folks had with the FX line of cameras is why can't we shoot DCI 4K ? It's supposed to be a cine camera . Well, we can't. So, . So, it's great to see this added to the file format
