in this tutorial I'll show you how to create a simple CRT effect in After Effects let's get to it here we are in After Effects I've got this video as the example and the first thing I'm going to do is add an adjustment layer let's go up to layer new adjustment layer then open effects and presets window and search for grid then add this effect to the adjustment layer and then head of HD effect controls panel set size from to width and height sliders then set width and height to 5 set border to 2 color 2 Black and blending mode to multiply then search for noise also add it to the adjustment layer set the amount of noise to 15 then search for VR digital glitch open Distortion set everything except color Distortion to zero then set color Distortion to 10 or a high value depends how much of an RGB splitting you want to see for Optics compensation increase field of view to something like 70 to distort the image around the edges then add the transform and then increase the scale until you don't have any gaps in the scene then add gaussian blur set amount of blown sd5 just to add a slight blur to the image then add exposure set exposure to 2 to brighten up the scene then add curves let's bring up the contrast by creating an S curve like this then switch channel to Blue and slightly increase it to give the scene a slight tint of blue and after that we can go ahead and do the preview and here's our complete CRT effect and this effect is heavily based on personal preference so feel free to experiment with different values and since we've added many effects and it's written the order with different values you can make it easy for yourself and create a preset so all you have to do is to come into the effect controls panel select any of the effects then press Ctrl layer command D
