Fears of fresh flooding complicate rescue efforts in Nepal as death toll surpasses 730

Risks of fresh flooding have complicated rescue efforts for some 3,000 people reported missing after a devastating flood tore through the Himalayan border region between Nepal and Tibet . Rising water levels in Bhuti and Triuli rivers after heavy rains have forced teams in Nepal to move to safer areas . Renew danger also hampering the search for more than a 100 workers believed to be trapped inside hydro power tunnels in Nuakut . India and China have sent specialized teams to help . On the Tibetan side, experts are analyzing the risk of a newly formed barrier lake . Teams near the Jirong border port have been moved to a safe location . More than 2,000 rescuers have been deployed around the worst hit areas to search for survivors and those missing Tibet and 546 remain unaccounted for . On of that figure, 261 are foreigners . Authorities in Nepal said at least 734 people have been killed and about 2,500 people including hundreds of foreigners remained are out of contact . For more, Rebecca Bunnan is tracking developments for CNA live on the ground in Bidu in Nepal alongside CNA senior correspondent Tanu standing by in Shanghai . Rebecca, how close are the rescuers to reaching the workers trapped inside the tunnels ? They've been working on this all day and over the past few days as well . And we've seen teams being deployed from here in Bidor to that to those sites not far from here. But it's been extremely uh difficult uh to actually carry out those operations . We are hearing there has been some progress though in terms of more heavy machinery being deployed which obviously has helped a lot or is with that uh challenging process . Um, it's understood as well that four holes have been drilled in one of the tunnels and that the teams are preparing to to enter that tunnel . We're waiting for more news on that as well . Um, but you know, from what we're hearing from some of the workers that have been working on those efforts , they're just very very worried that at this point in time there's no chance of finding any survivors . They said they haven't actually had any communication with the people or the workers that are believed to be trapped down in those tunnels . So that is extremely worrying. . But we do know that at least one of the tunnels they managed to drill through and get oxygen in which is obviously a very positive development
