This is a BYD car battery with 60 kW hours of storage , way more than most home energy storage batteries . And this this is a solar inverter . More specifically, a Solax X38 kW . It's time for us to combine these and create a massive amount of relatively cheap energy storage . I almost don't need to say it , but ordinarily these two things don't go together . And I'm about to show you how easy it is to make them work together . It will then do some instally [snorts] stuff . If you like these sort of shenanigans , attempting to find the limits of what one man can do from his garage , and exploring engineering challenges , then consider subscribing so you won't miss out on this stuff . We've got all that we need . Some of it is here . We've got a big cable. We've we'll deal with that. Be a bit more gentle with that . And we have a slightly different way of communicating between the battery and the inverter . Same software but using different hardware . Okay. So, it's not permanently going to live here . This battery, but I think that showing off a design where we mount the inverter and everything we need on the battery is pretty cool . I may end up doing that outside or I may end up putting the inverter eventually on a wall . I'm going to make a permanent solution on this that [music] will be temporary . However, there's probably a good chance that I'm just going to leave it on here and it's going to live here . Well, that is perfect
