So today we're taking a look at how well Parallels can run Windows games on the new M5 MacBook Pro, specifically the base model with only 16 GB of RAM. And as most Mac gamers know, the biggest limitation of gaming on a Mac is simply the number of games available. And because Boot Camp no longer works on Apple silicon, we can't install Windows natively anymore. So Parallels has become one of the most reliable options for accessing Windows only games and software, especially games that don't have Mac ports. So what Parallels does is that it runs Windows 11 ARM inside of a virtual machine. And even with the overhead of virtualization, it supports more games than you might expect. And there are limits. Parallels can only run DirectX 111 games and below. But inside that range, Parallels often handles games better than Crossover. And it can even run games using Battle Eye Entity like GTA 5 online. And there has never been a better time to try out Parallels for yourself because it is on a huge 50% off discount, which almost never happens. So, this is definitely the cheapest time to buy Parallels and it's for a limited time only during Black Friday. So, make sure to check it out. click on the link at the top of the video description. Using that link and purchasing Parallels helps to support this channel and helps me to make more Mac gaming content like this. Now, let's take a look at some of those games. So, first up, we're looking at GTA 5 online legacy. So, bear in mind that this multiplayer version is the only way to play GTA 5 online on non Windows hardware. And that's because Rockstar added battle eye antiche, meaning that devices like the Steam Deck can no longer play GTA 5 online. However, because we are using the Windows 11 ARM latest Canary version and this has built-in support for Battle Eye Antiche and this game is actually running pretty well considering the fact that we have the full Windows 11 ARM running in the background and the online component of GTA 5 is quite resource inensive and offline single player manages to run even better, especially considering the fact that this is the base M5 chip with only 16 GB of RAM. If we had a little bit more memory, then this would perform even better. Next up, we're looking at the Windows port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And this is actually running much more stably than it did the last time I tested this. And in order to get this to work on Parallels, which only supports up to Direct X11, we can get the game to manually launch in DX11 mode.
