How a Tank Production Shop Eliminated Rework With Cobot Plasma Cutting | Hirebotics

tank Technologies is 100% employee owned company about 50 employees produce uh porcel and lined water heaters and we serve as porcel and lined water storage Industries some of the challenges TTI was having uh looking into cutting automation was high volatility 25% of our products are customizable so we are getting a lot of volatility and inconsistency when cutting our heads and bases with by hand looking at an automated solution we looked at both uh CNC machines but couldn't handle the geometry of the heads so the cobot offered us all the accesses we need to get the geometry we chose H robotics because of the support we've had a lot of success with the welding cobot uh and now moving into the plasma cobot very rarely do I get called out under the floor to solve any issues uh they can use the iPad and reach right out to get the problem solved instantly a you know the first part that we wanted to implement on that plasma cutting cobot was a head that is very high in production it's something that we always classified as a custom head because we had to hand cut specific openings on this part and previously with handmade jigs hand cutting there's a significant amount of accuracy that's lost with that a lot of the rework we were seeing was uh due to uh inconsistent Cuts or too large of cuts having to fill in gaps and voids or go back and recut after because the hole was too small causing additional rework and timing I I can confidently say that that cobot cutter took our rework from 25% down to almost zero the installation was super easy the Box showed up we rolled it out of the box supplied power and ethernet all the instructions are on each of the pieces As you move forward downloaded the app powered it up and we were cutting within 4 hours as far as training went we brought a couple people on that we knew were very capable of learning this software and learning how to program it and at the end of a full week they were programming and cutting their own parts and cutting them exactly how we want them to go the it's very intuitive playing with this software and with these robots the advantage for of the app versus a teach pendant is uh I can use my phone I can use an iPad if that when we drop the iPad and break you
