foreign ERS it's George I'm in the workshop today in the garage and I'm going to talk about radios and um software defined radios Digital Signal processing radios and um my findings with them and I'm going to cover a few off and I'm going to start with the melon point this is a mountain height um multi-band receiver with the display that gives you can look at and see the signals just switch it on there we go so you've got the waterfall display and things like that what are my findings with it really good receiver but has a few flaws and one of the biggest flaw I found with it was the rotary encoder it started skipping or missing steps not long after I had it and I've actually replaced it now and that solved that problem but with all these type radios they have faults and this one even when it's switched off will discharge a fully charged battery and about three to four days and I've not really resolved how to fix a problem I might have to fit an on off switch in the battery lead um the other thing is they have glitches in the software and one of the glitches is if you you know you can change the rotation of these controls here so that clockwise the volume goes up or clocked clockwise the volume goes up if you do alter the rotation of them you'll find some of the features stop working but overall it's a good receiver and I've also had problems with the sound quality it's to do with the speaker the speaker seems to twist in its case and that the speaker sounds raspy and I found if I loosen the fixing screws for the speaker very slightly
