BMCU Build - Part One. Building the Drive Assembly

All right. Today I'm going to begin putting together my BMCU. Um I've already started off a little bit here. I've got the bushings in my side either side here. The next part according to the directions is to assemble the shaft and then do that next. The only thing I skipped ahead to do was put the motor in. That was because I wanted to solder the wires on and get it in here before I started recording this. Didn't think there was much need to show that. So, let's get these shafts put together, get those installed, and we will move on from there. All right. All the directions say is to get the gear so that the shaft is basically equal on either side. So, I think that's probably good enough. Going to do the other one and get those installed. All right. Here's both of those. Probably not perfectly centered, but pretty close. If you want to measure them, you probably could, but I think the rest fit together will probably center them up just fine. My motors came with the worm gear already on it. I soldered the wires on. Okay, this is the part that was throwing me off yesterday. I need to determine the polarity of the magnets. I have never done before. I did print out this little helper piece. I'm going to grab that. and I will mark north and then I will return. Okay, so this is the little helper piece. Looks like you just float it in cup of water or bowl of water, whatever. You just drop the magnet in there a little slot whichever side is north. I'm going to mark north nine. Uh, that should work. Then as long as I put north in first into here. Looks like north will be down.
