[Music] hi this is jam with useful knowledge home canning mason jars were invented in the 1850s fast forward to today and we have two major brands in our stores but do you know the difference between the two major brands which is ball and Curr I'm going to show you so stay tuned the truth is there's very little difference between a Ball mason jar and a Curr mason jar they're actually owned by the same company which is Jordan they're both made in the USA the lids and the bands are interchangeable but there is one difference your cerr mason jar is basically a plain mason jar your Ball mason jar actually has measurement increments on the side so if you have a Ball mason jar you can measure up a cup half cup or even a full quart if you'd like to and you can see exactly how much your your actually putting in the jar and I'm going to demonstrate for you on a couple of jars of blueberry syrup from our blueberry syrup making video okay your curve jar shown here is a great mason jar but if you'll notice the curve jar is just a plain mason jar now they do make some quilted mason jars for your small um jelly type jars but for the most part your curve jar is just a plain mason jar on the other hand your Ball mason jar has measurement increments so if you notice here it has cups and if you notice here it has cups and ounces on this pint size mason jar as ounces on this pint size mason jar as well as milliliters on the other
