How to Connect Claude to Fusion 360 (MCP Setup Guide)

Okay, so about 3 days ago we got a really exciting announcement from Autodesk and Cloud and they are now going to be collaborating on their Fusion 360 design platform using some API tools. And it's actually really simple to set up, so that's what we're going to walk through today. The first thing you're going to want to make sure of is that you have Fusion downloaded on your computer and uh running. Uh and then you also want to make sure you have Cloud desktop installed and running. And then we're going to just come over here in Cloud and we're going to click on our plan and we'll go to uh settings and then we're going to go to connectors. Once you're here in connectors, you're going to browse connectors and you're going to search for Autodesk Fusion. First of all, you're going to click on it and it's going to give you some instructions. Now, so before you click that plus button, go over to Fusion and we are going to go to our preferences and then we're going to go to API. We're going to enable right here Fusion MCP server runs locally on device. So, what this does is it allows external AI tools that run locally or um that are enabled to access the API to get to your Fusion and and run Python scripts through this server port right here. So, this number is important. Um you want to make sure that that is the same as is in the Cloud program over here. So, apply those changes, tap okay. You're going to come over here and tap install. It's going to ask you, "Do you want to install Autodesk Fusion? " Yep, everything is good. We want to do that. And we're going to just do that. Just as simple as that. Configure. Everything should be good. And I'm just going to go to I'll keep it on needs approval. You can change a a of different things. Um So, then I'll just go back over here and I can start up a new chat and I'm going to say I want you to CAD me a simple car wheel and tire.
