I'm Andy, a girl who just graduated with a degree in journalism. During my four years in college, my favorite things were writing articles and doing interviews. My teachers and classmates often said that I would become a serious and passionate journalist in the future. After graduating, I took several articles from my internship and came to New York, hoping to work at a real newspaper. But reality wasn't as easy as I imagined. I sent out many resumes, but for a long time, I didn't get any ideal opportunities. One day, I received an interview notice for an assistant position to the editor in chief of the world famous fashion magazine, Runway. Honestly, I knew almost nothing about fashion. Most of the clothes in my closet were oversized sweaters, old jeans, and flat shoes. But I needed a job, so I decided to give it a try. I told myself this might just be a temporary beginning, something to help me gain a foothold in New York. The first time I walked into the building where Runway was located, I felt like I had stepped into another world. The air smelled like perfume, and the sound of high heels echoed everywhere. Employees wore perfect makeup and elegant clothes. Everyone looked busy and confident. I was wearing an ordinary sweater, a slightly worn skirt, and a pair of flat shoes. Compared with everything here, I looked completely out of place. The receptionist glanced at me with an expression that seemed to say, "Did she come to the right place? " I first met the first assistant, Emily. She was extremely thin, dressed flawlessly with perfect makeup. She spoke fast and sharply. While taking calls, she briefly explained the job to me. She told me I would be interviewing with Miranda, the editor and chief of the magazine and one of the most powerful women in the fashion world. The moment Miranda appeared, I immediately understood why everyone was so nervous. When she walked into the office, the whole room fell silent. She didn't speak loudly, but her presence was overwhelming. Her eyes were calm and sharp, as if she could see your weaknesses in a second. During the interview, she flipped through my resume quickly, and immediately saw that I knew nothing about fashion, had no related experience, and even admitted I wanted to do journalism. She was clearly dissatisfied, and I thought I had no chance.
