In Sandy Beach, Mayor Diana organized a competition to design this district. At first glance, there's a beautiful cityscape in the background. The area features a long shoreline and a pleasant ocean view. Although the water appears polluted, fortunately, it's a temporary situation. The topography presents some challenges, but holds great potential. Overall, it seems like a splendid canvas for a cool neighborhood design. Although the competition provided flexibility in budget and land use, we aim to build a wellplanned neighborhood. We'll take a more realistic approach considering urban planning principles. So we should analyze the area first to identify its potentials and issues. When we look at the vicinity of the planning area, we mostly observe a dominance of workspaces. Considering the significance of a balance between living and working spaces in a city, we can talk about the potential for residential use within the planning area. Other than providing access to the area through these large roads, unfortunately, we won't be able to make any alterations to them. Hence, these roads determine the clear boundary on land. Additionally, as the connections of the grid layout neighboring our area cannot be altered, they can directly impact the planning process. Creating a connection that further reduces the distance between intersections could lead to problems. On the other hand, we can access the area from the desired section of the road on the left. The coastline acting as a natural threshold defines the rest of our area's boundary. However, unlike the land-based boundary, it's a flexible boundary that we can adjust if necessary. Leveling the topography can ease your effort, but you can utilize the slopes to achieve an original design. Aspect analysis is conducted in urban planning to better understand the direction of the slope. I added these arrows just to grasp the direction of the slope more easily. The fact that a significant part of the area faces the sea offers us an important potential to benefit from the view. This small hill formation dominates the area in terms of elevation. It might be more appropriate to allocate such areas for public use rather than private ownership if possible. This way, everyone can benefit from these areas. This area features predominantly higher elevations. While there are a few sections with gentle slopes, it's mostly flat. Considering its proximity to large roads, it stands as the most suitable area for highdensity development. When approaching the coast, the slope becomes notably steep, requiring necessary precautions in this area.
