Iran launches attacks across Middle East in response to US and Israel strikes | BBC News

Live from Tel Aiv, I'm Clive Miley . On the day that Israel and America attacked Iran , strikes in Tehran and right across the country , the Iranian Red Crescent says more than 200 people are dead with more blasts reported this evening . The Iranians hit back, retaliating with a series of strikes across the region, also hitting Bahrain . Thousands are now caught up in the violence , including tourists across the Middle East . This was the scene in Dubai a little earlier after an Iranian strike on the Palm Hotel . And these are live pictures from here in Tel a Viv where a state of emergency has been declared across Israel . Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says there Yeah, we simply don't know. Uh I think you know if this information is confirmed Clive uh it shows uh the you know the level of intelligence that uh the Israelis uh and possibly the Americans have about the leadership in Iran . We know that uh the prime minister had been uh defending the idea of military of a significant military operation against Iran . Today again he talked about what he described as the existential threat posed by Iran's nuclear program . Something that the prime minister has been talking about for decades when describing uh the uh leadership in Iran in particular uh the country's nuclear program . There were negotiations happening between the Iranians and the Americans . We still don't know whether the Americans were engaged in these talks with the goal to achieve a deal to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions . But at the same time, the prime minister uh you know most recently has also been talking about the threat posed by Iran's ballistic missiles . Now I think the big question here is about if this information is confirmed . Uh there have been reports suggesting uh there was a plan in place by the Iranian authorities . Obviously over the last few weeks we've heard uh you know threats from President Trump to attack Iran
