The American magazine 'Military Watch Magazine' cites recent reports stating that the operations of air superiority fighters like the Su-35 of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have forced the Ukrainian Air Force to operate F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighters at low altitudes deep behind their lines. Flying low and far from the adversary minimizes the chance of being targeted by Russian fighters and evading fatal blows, but it severely limits the support role Ukrainian aircraft can provide to ground forces. Commenting on the presence of the Su-35 on the battlefield, which is said to have shaped Ukrainian fighter operations, Mr. Sergey Chemerov, CEO of the Russian state corporation Rostec, stated that the Su-35S has forced enemy fighters to fly at minimum altitudes and retreat deep into rear areas.
