On August 26, 2011, at 6:47 PM, the Hpton County police received a distressing call. A 26-year-old young man called in, visibly shaken. He was sobbing on the phone. The dispatcher explained that he’d found his friend lying on the floor of her home. She was sprawled in the kitchen, showing no signs of life. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t revive her. The dispatcher immediately sent emergency services to the scene. Police and an ambulance arrived quickly. There, they found the suspect—still in fetal position in the backyard, sobbing uncontrollably. He was out of it, unresponsive to their words. He only clutched his phone in his hands.
