First, what is the PPPoE client? Many providers use a modem, folks. And what does the modem do? Most of them take the fiber optic, perform the authentication with the internet server you subscribed to, and output a network cable for you to plug into your computer, your Mikrotik, wherever you want in your network. When they don't use a modem, when they use a different device, which might be called an ONU or have other names—it's a small device that doesn't do routing—this device just takes the fiber in and outputs a network cable, and then they put in a router, and that router is what will perform the authentication for your provider's client.
